“The people who think they’re crazy enough to change the world, are the ones who do.” The Crazy Ones, one of the advertisements from Chiat Day I’ve always favored. When you see the images of Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King Jr. your mind wonders to each of their struggles, obstacles and inspiration. You almost instantly become attached to the poetry. Line by line, each word rings through your mind. When the words Think Different appear, you completely remain captured by the spirits of each rebel, forward thinker and genius – “The Crazy Ones.”
I remember a professor of mine had the Think Different Apple poster of Albert Einstein positioned center stage in the classroom, right smack-dab in the middle of the whiteboard. One day, right next to the print she drew a 3/4 circle with an edge. She pointed to the class and as she did it seemed she was looking everyone in the eye; a very intense stare if I don’t say so myself.
“Have an edge.”
She spoke those three words as if it were written on the front of the Bible itself. I can’t tell you how the conversation landed on such a topic, but it forever burned a frame in my mind. Have an edge… I know it’s not the same for you as I write the words. But, if you can imagine at that exact moment the entire class sat in pure silence, awing at the significance of such a statement.
